Ocean Breathing

‘Ocean Breathing’ builds on observations and recollections of multiple coastal locations. By appropriating observations of the oceans into breathing exercises and through asking oneself what they are feeling while breathing and by thinking what the ocean might be feeling, the ocean might be personified and one can attempt to empathise with it. Relying on the idea of “Knowledge in Actions” and anchoring to recent memories of salt water, the viewer/participant is able to recognise the perspectives on the ocean that are socially situated. This project currently exists as an amassing archive or memories, instructions that has been presented through exhibition or conversation format (the workshop/guided meditation).

The archive has so far been presented as an essay film. With each presentation of the material; the film is updated remade from the starting point of new memories of salt water and additional ocean breathings.
